During your training, you work in various laboratory areas and get to know the processes of a modern chemical and pharmaceutical company. You learn the safe handling of chemicals, substances and laboratory plants and apply all relevant safety regulations. In the laboratories of quality control, you carry out studies on medicinal products as well as raw, active and auxiliary substances, for example for identity testing or for determining the active substance content You cooperate in stability studies and check drugs after storage under different climatic conditions. You can apply both conventional wet chemical processes such as titrations or distillations as well as modern computer-assisted analyzers (e.g. chromatography, spectroscopy or tablet testing systems) and get to know their care and maintenance. The documentation and statistical evaluation of analytical results is one of your tasks as well as the work according to fixed specifications. You work in a regulated environment according to the rules of good manufacturing practice (GMP) and according to the prescriptions of the medicinal books. In addition to practical training in the company, you will visit the vocational school in Karlsruhe in block lessons, in which you will deepen theoretical and practical foundations of chemistry.
