The specialist domain Procurement Solutions (PSL) is digitally structured as a product organization within REWE and develops IT solutions that support the central purchasing and procurement processes of the entire REWE Group. It ensures that systems work efficiently, integrated and user-oriented along the entire value stream – from purchasing to category management to billing. With its products, the PSL creates cross-cutting added value and makes a significant contribution to the digitization and professionalisation of all procurement processes. For this exciting domain we are looking for a:n Head of Engineering.

Tasks that keep you posted: You are responsible for the technical development of the entire Procurement Solutions domain (PSL). You identify, evaluate and maintain potential for improvement along the entire purchase and supplier processes and develop scalable engineering initiatives that generate measurable business benefits. You promote innovations in the areas of process automation, sourcing optimization, data quality, integration and system architecture and anchor them sustainably in the PSL. You define technical standards, architectural principles and global requirements for PSL products and ensure compliance – supported by clearly documented methods, guidelines, KPIs and regular Engineering Health Checks. You ensure that appropriate tools and procedures exist to reliably meet compliance, audit and security requirements in the Procurement environment (e.g. data integrity, process documentation, system location). You shape culture and leadership in the PSL Engineering Organisation: with a focus on effectiveness, transparency, value orientation, cooperation with adjacent domains and orientation at REWE Group's strategic goals. You tax the PSL's budget, capacity and economic resources, in line with the needs of the departments, the domain and the overall strategy. You are responsible for the strategic use of your engineering professionals in product teams – whether permanent, temporary or advisory – and ensure that their expertise is optimally effective. You control engineering contributions for your own PSL products, such as systems for ordering processes, contract management, supplier integration, approval workflows or data analysis – including product strategy, prioritization and quality standards. You are driving the development of new business areas of Procurement Solutions, such as AI-supported sourcing automation, suppliers scoring, donation analyses or new integration platforms. You control workforce size, skill profile and utilisation of your engineering organization directly or indirectly – including planning for products, initiatives, services and cross-domain operations.

Features that make you feel: You bring well-founded experience in engineering leadership – ideally in procurement, ERP, finance or supply chain near domains. Your deep understanding of purchasing processes, suppliers/contract management, category management and the technical systems that support these value flows. (The PSL covers precisely these processes.) You are strong in the definition of technical standards, governance models and quality frameworks and can sustainably anchor them in large organisations. You can structure complex domain-wide themes, prioritize according to MVP approach and recognize dependencies early – a core element of the PSL operation. You can manage the cooperation with Product Ownern, Architect:inside, specialist areas, business partners:inside and the lead circle and can convey technical decisions transparently. You are safe in budget, resources and capacity planning and bring experience with economic responsibility. Your view for technological trends in the procurement environment (e.g. AI based analyses, workflow automation, modern supplier portals) and your ability to translate these into sustainable engineering roadmaps. Clear, empathic and target-group-oriented communication, both in German and English – on a technical and strategic level – you shape a culture that creates trust.
