Develop and optimize optical thin-film and facet coating processes for optoelectronic semiconductor devices Take technical ownership of facet coating equipment, including maintenance coordination, measurement processes and failure analysis Design and simulate thin-film stacks based on anti-reflection (AR) requirements and the optical properties of coating materials Measure and characterize thin films using ellipsometry, SEM, profilometry and related metrology methods Develop specialized passivation and thin-film coating concepts for different laser diode facets Apply structured experimentation and statistical process control (SPC) to improve process capability, quality and yield Improve coating and stacking processes, including related hardware and software Transfer new coating processes and technologies from development into stable production Analyze technical failures, troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues and implement sustainable solutions Collaborate close with Production, R&D, Quality, IT and other engineering teams Prepare technical and process documentation, including development plans, engineering reports, SOPs and work instructions Train and support production teams on assigned equipment and processes Support engineering changes, deviation processes, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with applicable EHS requirements and company standards
Required Bachelor's or master's degree in optics, physics, materials science, optical engineering, or a related technical field Professional hands-on experience in optical thin-film coating and related process engineering Strong knowledge of optical coating design, thin-film stacks and anti-reflection coating concepts Experience with coating equipment, vacuum systems and thin-film measurement or characterization tools Hands-on experience with ellipsometry and other relevant metrology methods Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to independently manage technical projects while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams Willingness to work closely with production teams and hands-on on-site support Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken Nice to have Experience with thin-film design and simulation software, preferably Macleod Experience with facet coating or passivation processes for laser diodes or other optoelectronic devices Knowledge of SPC, Design of Experiments and statistical data Experience with SEM, profilometry and advanced thin-film characterization Experience improve or automating coating and stacking equipment, including related hardware and software Experience transferring engineering processes into volume production English language skills are an advantage
