Senior Development Engineer Hardware (m/f/d)

Prototyping & Design: You develop electronic prototype concepts, perform analogue and digital measurements and iterate designs with Altium Designer (or comparable EDA tools). Hardware development: Start detailed schematics and PCB layouts. Your focus is on miniaturization, ultra-low power design and the integration of Secure Elements / ASICs. Construction & Debugging: You build and equip SMD prototypes (manually and machine-assisted), take the bring-up in the laboratory and analyze and fix hardware bugs. Firmware Ring-up: You write low-level firmware drivers to activate the hardware functions and validate new prototypes. Production coordination: You work closely with our EMS partners at pilot runs, solves manufacturing-specific problems and optimizes the DFM processes (Design for Manufacturing). Documentation & Mentoring: You’ll first design documentation, test plans and piece lists (BOMs). You also support Junior Engineers and share your knowledge with them. Development perspective: You have the opportunity to take step-by-step project management responsibility for new product developments.

Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in electronics design and hardware prototype development. Tools & Skills: Practical experience in SMD placement and handling debugging tools (oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Power Meter). Ideally you bring knowledge to Altium Designer (other EDA tools are also welcome). Firmware-Know-how: Funded knowledge in embedded C/C++ firmware development for microcontrollers, especially in the field of low-level drivers and hardware ring-up. EMS cooperation: experience in cooperation with EMS service providers (processors) and a good understanding of DFM/DFX principles (Design for Manufacturing / Excellence). Languages: Good German and very good English skills. Nice-to-have: Experience with ARM Cortex-M or STM32 microcontrollers, RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr), IoT radio technologies (BLE, NFC), EMC/certifications and first project management skills.
