As an automation engineer (m/w/d), you are a member of the local digital/substance automation team and responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance and life cycle activities of automation and digital systems at the site that support production operations. This role offers practical technical support to ensure production continuity, system reliability, validated condition and compliance with regulatory requirements. You work closely with the areas of production, engineering and the central digital-&-automating partners. Automation and production continuity Supporting the daily operational and technical activities for production-critical automation and digital systems. Support of production and engineering teams in maintaining system performance and production continuity. Support in investigations, deviations and unplanned events through error analysis and data collection. Maintenance of automation and life cycle support Support in the maintenance of automation systems to ensure their validated and regular condition. Participation in the creation and updating of life cycle documents, including SOPs, specifications and change records. Compliance with the location standards for change management, validation and documentation practices. Support regulatory inspections and audits as required. Support for incidents, crises and business continuity Reaction to automation-related incidents and support in error analysis, escalation and recovery. Coordination with location and support teams to restore system availability. Documentation of incidents, measures and solutions. Support for activities and tests under the Business Continuity Plan (BCP). Management of control systems and automation infrastructure Operation and support of control systems, including DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI and PC-based production systems. Participation in the implementation of system and software changes according to defined processes. Support for installation, testing and commissioning of updates to automation systems. Compliance with programming standards and engineering practices for automation systems. Process automation and continuous improvement Application of basic automation technology and support in programming at plant level. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability and performance. Participation in cross-functional problem solving and standardization activities.
Important features, skills and competencies Basic understanding of manufacturing and operating processes. Knowledge of automation systems such as DeltaV DCS, PLC, SCADA and HMI. Basic understanding of GMP and validated environments. Embossed skills for error analysis and analytical thinking. Ability to work cooperatively in cross-functional teams while developing independent work. Preferred qualifications, experiences and certifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, automation technology, mechatronics, chemical engineering or computer technology. Experience in supporting automated control systems; experience in the pharmaceutical industry, other regulated industries and/or GMP manufacturing environments are preferred. Knowledge of the GAMP guidelines applicable to validated computer systems.
