For our Group Strategy & Development / M&A department , we are looking for an Area Director Strategy & Development - Europe (f/m/d). The position is based at our headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. The Area Director S&D - Europe will serve as business partner to the Area Board member responsible for the Group Area Europe and the respective countries. The role will allow to make a significant contribution to some of the Group's most important projects. As part of a small team that advises CEO, CFO & the whole Managing Board on strategy and manages development & M&A initiatives, the Area Director S&D - Europe will serve as business partner to the Area Board member responsible for the Group Area Europe and the respective countries. Contribute to the development of the company's strategy (Area, Country & Group level) Strategy development, regular portfolio review, strategic planning process

Construction market and strategic competitor analysis, including industry trends

Communication with senior management

Manage projects & global initiatives with a high degree of automation (Area, Country & Group level) Driving of strategic priorities through project / program management (often cross-functional, with a broad portfolio of topics)

At times, multiple high priority projects simultaneously

Presentation of findings to senior management or internal steering committees

Steer M&A projects (incl. partnership) & post-merger (or carve-out) activities Identification / assessment of potential targets

Steering of acquisitions and divestments, incl. due diligence and auction processes

Coordination of internal / third party stakeholders, support in violation

Management / support of carve-out and integration projects (PMI)

Manage review of CAPEX and M&A projects for Board approval Strategic assessment review of country-led development projects

Coordination of the review with other functions (technical, financial, environment)

Liaison with country management

Conduct ad-hoc market or competitor analyses (incl. business intelligence)

YOUR PROFILE

University degree in business, economics or engineering (or similar), potentially MBA or PhD level

7 to 10 years of professional experience, incl. consulting, corporate strategy and development functions, and/or corporate M&A roles

Proven ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization and to manage, and work constructively within, diverse and cross-functional teams in various cultural contexts

Clear ''getting-things-done'' mentality, i.e. tenacity to overcome independently potential obstacles

Strong quantitative capabilities, very structured thinking, and proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint

Executive level oral and written communication skills

Fluent in English, other languages a plus
