Team Lead (w/m/d) - Cloud Platform Operations

We are looking for a future-oriented management personality for the management of our internal platform operation and the leadership of a dedicated team of professionals. In this role, you combine practical technical knowledge with leadership skills to manage a range of open source solutions, including Unix/Linux-based systems, databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), Kubernetes cluster, Kafka and Cassandra. You work closely with external partners and customers and coordinate standby services to ensure the availability of the service around the clock. Tasks Leadership & team culture: Professional and disciplinary leadership of a dedicated platform and support team. Promoting engagement, growth and responsibility through regular feedback and target agreements. Promoting a mentality of continuous improvement of all processes. Operation and automation: Ensuring stable, safe and performant operation across various Unix/Linux-based systems. Refining deployment and configuration processes (e.g. Ansible) to increase efficiency and minimise manual interventions. Management and scaling of Kubernetes clusters and coordination with open-source tools such as Kafka and Cassandra to reconcile stability, costs and performance. Database Management and Innovation: Monitoring and optimization of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), including performance optimization, backups and failover strategies. Evaluation of new technologies and solutions to improve performance, availability and scalability within an open source ecosystem. Building a Cloud Infrastructure Coordination of readiness and response to incidents: Development of an effective readiness model to ensure a round-the-clock coverage. As an escalation point, act for critical incidents and provide a quick solution in close cooperation with external partners or customers. Define clear responsibilities and communication paths for a quick problem solution. Strategic cooperation: Close cooperation with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Product Management, Leadership) to align the operation of the platform to the core business objectives. Provision of regular updates on system performance, project milestones and resource needs. Initiating cross-departmental projects to streamline workflows, promote innovation and strengthen cooperation across the company. Qualifications Leadership experience: proven success in managing or coordinating technical teams. Technical expertise: Good knowledge of Unix/Linux administration, open source automation tools (e.g. Ansible), Kubernetes and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL). Experiences with Kafka, Cassandra and similar technologies are beneficial in building a cloud infrastructure. Problem solving competence: ability to diagnose, prioritise and solve complex operating problems under pressure. Communication capability: ability to effectively convey technical facts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external partners or customers. Continuous learning: Enthusiasm for staying up-to-date with the emerging open-source technologies and best practices in the industry.
