Librarian for the Library of the Physics Institutes (m/f/d)

The Physics Library is a self-managed library of the Physical Institutes/ Chairs. It is in freehand exhibition with reading room and integrated learning places designed. It offers conventional media, a technically equipped discussion room and service for students and employees. The increasingly important electronic offer will be in close coordination and cooperation with University library made accessible. The RWTH is certified as a family-friendly university. RWTH offers a variety of health, counselling and prevention services (e.g. university sports) as part of a university health management. There is a wide range of training and the possibility of obtaining a job ticket for employees and civil servants.

You guide the physics library in the style of a One Person Library to scientific Requirements and library-related principles and develop them further. You care about Stock and acquire conventional media according to RWTH procurement guidelines and adopt them according to the binding rules (RDA, institute's own classification). You work with the ALMA composite catalog system according to the application rules of RWTH and of the hbz association. You plan and organize the use of student assistants and have these in their tasks. You advise and support students and Scientists. In particular, you develop based on appropriate offers the University Library training on topics such as information skills and Research data management. Perspectively build the public work for the Physics library, develop the presence of the Physics Library and the Physics Department Internet and social media and establish the physics library as the first point of contact for Questions of research data management.

You have a relevant library-scientific university degree (Bachelor, FH-Diplom), a comparable (special) college degree with equivalent Professional knowledge or a comparable qualification. Your knowledge of German in word and Writing is very good, your English knowledge at least good. You have safe Basic knowledge of RDA and its practical application as well as good Knowledge of how to use an integrated library system. Experience in Library management system ALMA and the research interface Primo are desirable. You are safe to use PC standard applications such as MS Office, and with internet services and social media. You are interested in Information exchange and consultation and are committed to continuing and in new to develop areas and activities. Your action is service- and user-oriented, your Working methods structured, independent and careful. You work independently, are open for innovations and have good communication and cooperation capabilities.

The employment is in the employment relationship. The place shall be occupied at the next possible time and shall be permanent. It is a full-time job. If desired, parttime employment can be made possible. Working time should be at least 30 hours a week. The grouping depends on the TV-L. The place is rated with EG 9b.
