Number: MER0003XQQ The team Ideation & Customer Insights is the competence center for professional ideas generation and empirical customer research at Mercedes-Benz AG. We answer development-relevant questions in research and development with tailor-made creative workshops and test subjects. We explore requirements and needs of current and future customers. By using creative methods, we support cross-functional experts in developing innovative solutions and strategies. We also test technical innovations for their acceptance and usability. With our findings we provide guidance and valuable decision-making aids along the innovation process. As part of your doctorate, you are concerned with the question of how the cognitive and motor performance of a driver/driver is or develops after sleep? The following aspects are relevant: The spontaneous awakening and the involuntary awakening

How long does it take for a person to be able to lead a motor vehicle sufficiently safely?

How does the vigilance and driving capacity develop after sleep?

Your tasks include: Identification of criteria for sleep quality, driving suitability, cognitive and motor performance, as well as their measurement Conception, implementation and evaluation of experimental laboratory and driving simulator requests with test subjects Implementation and evaluation of EEG measurements and appropriate psychophysiological tests Transfer of scientific knowledge in practical applications Creation of scientific work and publications The activity can begin from June 2026. Adjustment requirement is the support of the doctoral project by a university lecturer. The selection of a corresponding person is the responsibility of the doctoral student. The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us.

Graduate degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Medicine, Human Factors, Biology, Engineering or a comparable degree course Secure knowledge of German and English in word and writing Secure handling of MS Office (in particular PowerPoint, Excel, Word) Quick conception, conceptual and organizational skills and high flexibility, strong commitment and initiative, independent and careful work, economic and customer-oriented thinking and acting, high affinity for new technologies Interest in a varied activity in an interdisciplinary team, experience with the collection and evaluation of physiological data (EEG, heart rate, respiratory frequency, etc.)
