STRABAG Rail GmbH is an international railway company and part of the STRABAG SE Group. Thanks to its more than 100 years of experience, it gives valuable impetus in the planning of railway construction projects and sets qualitative standards in the construction design. The training usually takes 2 years. After that, you will have your degree as a civil engineering specialist:with a focus on road construction work. It is possible to extend and complete the training with the 3rd year as a road builder. This means after 3 years you have 2 degrees in your pocket. The vocational school is located in Leipzig and the training centre in Gera. During your training, you will learn the basics of road construction that are necessary for the new building and the expansion of different infrastructure projects. You acquire skills in handling different tools and construction equipment (e.g. compressed air hammer, shaker plates or surveying devices). You're talking about earthwork using construction machines and securing construction pits or trenches. You will learn the correct use and processing of building materials (e.g. asphalt, concrete, wood, steel etc.) as well as the reading of construction plans and drawings. You will be familiar with the most important safety regulations and workflows on our major construction sites. In the 2nd year of apprenticeship, you can complete a small machine license for the operation of our construction equipment.

You have craftsmanship, interest in technical topics and have a good spatial imagination. You have a good primary school degree or a real school degree and ideally belonged to your favorite subjects. You are interested in the construction industry and enjoy the practical and physical work outdoors. The team's work is fun and you like to pack up. Care and accuracy are particularly important to you at your work. Under the week you are ready to be on the national road and enjoy various construction sites in different regions.
