ID: IT-CDP-SEVP Location: Paderborn For our Computing & Data Platforms, we are looking for an experienced system engineer (m/w/d) at the next possible time, which is responsible for the construction, operation and further development of our global virtualization platform based on Proxmox VE. As part of a global IT transformation, you actively shape the migration of existing VMware environments to a modern, open and highly available virtualization solution. You connect strategic platform design with hands-on-engineering and stable enterprise operation.

Planning and implementation of the migration of VMware to Proxmox, including target architecture, migration strategy, test concept and operational transfer Ensuring stable, performant and secure operation of the virtualization environment, including high availability, backup/restore, monitoring and patch/lifecycle management Integration of storage, network and server infrastructure and evaluation of suitable platform standards, automation approaches and operating processes Advising internal departments and international IT locations in architectural, infrastructure and business Technical instructions of administrators and support in 2nd-/3rd-level support in the analysis and elimination of complex disturbances

Complete training, e.g. as a specialist informatics (m/w/d) system integration, a study in the IT field or a comparable qualification with corresponding practical experience Very good knowledge in the administration and operation of virtualization environments, ideally with Proxmox VE in cluster and HA operation Experience with enterprise infrastructures, in particular server hardware, storage, network, backup and monitoring Funded knowledge in several of the following areas: Linux, especially Debian-based systems Storage technologies such as SAN, ZFS, Ceph, NFS or iSCSI Virtualization with KVM/QEMU, ideally complemented by LXC containers Automation and scripting, for example with Bash, Ansible, Python or comparable tools Dell Hardware
