Agricultural specialist (m/f/d)

For our Water Bird Reserve in Wallnau on Fehmarn, we are looking for a specialist in agriculture (m/w/d) in full time at the next time possible.

Objective of the job: You take over the responsible care and coordination of our Galloway cattle (85 animals) and Konik-Pferde and actively shape the nature-protection-oriented management of the areas of NABU Wallnau. In flat hierarchies with a lot of autonomy and freedom of choice, you combine ecological agriculture with knowledge transfer and inspire volunteers, interns and participants of workshops for practical nature protection.

Animal husbandry & herd management - You are responsible for the health, breeding and care of our Galloway cattle and Konik horses – including slaughtering and further development of direct marketing. Area management & hay production - You farm around 150 ha of greenland in an environmentally friendly way, ensure winter food supply and coordinate the complete hay production from harvest to storage. Planning, organization & documentation - You take over the annual and operational planning, run the arable hit file and answer funding requests (GAP) as well as the associated agricultural documentation. Technology, Infrastructure & Investment - You plan investments and organize maintenance of machinery, fences, plants and buildings. Collaboration & Mitgestaltung - In flat hierarchies, you work independently, guide and train volunteers in dealing with animals and technology and actively shape the future orientation of the management.

Passion for animal husbandry in nature conservation - You are burning for the free-landing of mother cows and convince by a quiet, expert handling of animals as well as knowledge in animal health and care. You want to pass on your knowledge, accompany young people with patience and enthusiasm in their practical work, and promote learning by working together. You bring the willingness to seasonal multi-week and weekend work (no shiftwork) and stay resilient, reliable and well organized even in work-intensive phases. You have completed agricultural training or a corresponding study, relevant professional experience as well as a safe understanding of nature-protectionally correct green farming. You go routined with agricultural technology, owns the driving licences B, BE and T; experiences with funding or training are a plus.
