You establish and conduct a research group on additive 3D micro- and nano-production. Technical focus is on high-resolution 3D printing methods, in particular with the aid of multi-photon lithography and multi-material printing including metallic materials. The fields of application include areas of microsystem technology in which three-dimensional free-form structures play a central role, in particular photonics and integrated optics as well as the millimeter wave and THz technique. The group complements the existing competencies of the Institute for Microstructure Technology (IMT) in additive nanoproduction and optics & Photonics and uses the infrastructure of the Karlsruhe Center for Optics and Photonics (KCOP). The aim is to span the sheet from basic research to application-oriented demonstrators of scalable components and to transfer technology to industry. Their activities include: Development and implementation of an independent, internationally visible research agenda. Scientific and technical advice from the institute members on multiphoton lithography and multi-material printing. Participation in ongoing research projects (3DMM2O, HYPERION). Development of new technological approaches and component concepts, incl. Component design using field simulation and beam optics, experimental characterization and development of scalable replication methods (e.g. nanoimprint, elastomer deformation). Third-party funding (e.g. DFG, BMFTR, EU/EIC) and cooperation with industrial partners, technology transfer and project management. Care of doctoral students, postdoctoral students and students. Publication of research results in high-level international journals and presentation at specialist conferences.
Complete PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Physics, Optics & Photonics, Material Science or a related field. Multiannual professional experience after graduation – in academic research or in industrial R & D – in micro and nanotechnology (purchasing space, lithography, thin-film technology), ideally combined with knowledge in the field of high-resolution additive micro and nano-manufacturing, as well as profound knowledge in optics & photonics and/or in millimeter wave and THz technology. experience with simulation and design tools for electromagnetic field simulation (e.g. FDTD, FEM, CST) and beam optics (e.g. Zemax); Knowledge of photonic-electronic construction and connection technology is advantageous. Experiences with measurement methods from photonics and millimeter wave technology (vector network analysis, optical fiber coupling) as well as with replication methods such as nanoimprint lithography or elastomer deformation are desirable. Experience in the recruitment of third-party funds or in the responsibility for industrial R&D projects and budgets as well as in project management Ideally proven successes through publications in lectured journals and at relevant conferences or through patents or products. Very good knowledge of English in word and writing. German knowledge is advantageous. willingness to design, self-initiative and the ability to independent scientific work as well as strategic planning and independent implementation of a research agenda. Conceptual and analytical thinking. Proven leadership experience with cooperative, esteemed leadership style and didactic skills. Communication strength and intercultural competence.
Excellent research conditions & modern infrastructure Benefit from a unique environment that connects university and major research, and gain access to state-of-the-art equipment and interdisciplinary projects. This environment allows you both basic research and application-oriented research at the highest level. Flexible working time Use sliding time, mobile work and 30 days holiday for an optimal work-life balance. International networking You work in a global network that includes international cooperation and English-speaking scientific communication. KIT supports the exchange with leading research institutions and industrial partners worldwide. Career and development We support you with a structured integration, diverse training opportunities and individual support. So we strengthen your personal growth. .
