The Team Lichtsysteme Spotlight Electronics & dynamic functions is responsible for the series development, release and support of light assistance functions for all Mercedes-Benz series. In the field of automotive lighting technology, Mercedes-Benz is a world leader with its high-resolution “DIGITAL LIGHT” headlight. As part of your six-month working student activity, you work in the field of “DIGITAL LIGHT” headlight technology. In this case, you support the team both in the design and application of new setups for the Dynamic Light System and the adaptive high-beam assistants. Your field of tasks is diverse and includes the following topics: Support of vehicle remodels to update software and hardware versions

Recording and evaluation of measurement data during test drives and laboratory setups

Adaptation and integration of scripts (e.g. Python, CAPL, VBS) for a visual simulation environment

Search and Ideas for future lighting systems and functions

Participation in the finalisation of the specification of lighting functions (Ready-for-implementation)

Participation in the development of software processes in the context CI/CD

Migration of information from different sources

Adapting automation workflows in Atlassian Jira

Special tasks according to individual thematic preference

Support of the team in operational daily business

Strong contact with adjacent specialist departments in the development network

The activity can begin from August 2026

You are impersonated in the course of studies of automotive engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, optics or a comparable course of study with completed basic studies

You speak solid English and German (min. B2)

Dealing with common IT tools (Office, teams) are not a problem for you

Ideally, you have first experiences with vehicle technology tools such as Vector CANoe and master at least one common script/interface language (e.g. Python, CAPL, VBS), alternatively at least one common programming language (C++, C#, Java)
