Head of Data Engineering - on-site (m/f/d)

Together with your team, you develop scalable data products and data pipelines and bring them into implementation in close cooperation with the product teams. You give the Data Engineering team guidance on goals, roles and priorities and strengthen a collaboration that is learning-oriented, cooperative and powerful. In architectural issues, complex pipelines and data-intensive systems, you get yourself deep and are a technical Sparring person for your team. You make sure that data products are produced cost-efficient, safe, predictable and reusable, and that You make significant benefits in everyday life. At the interface of product, technology and specialist area, you will advise on data architecture, data quality and performance and, if necessary, also directly participate in product teams. Standards and best practices such as CI/CD, testing and observability are consistently developing and bringing improvements to implementation.

You have a degree with a technical-data-based focus, for example in computer science, mathematics, data engineering or data science, or you have a comparable qualification. Multiannual experience in data engineering – focusing on data products and data-intensive systems in productive environments – forms the basis for your next step. You have already managed teams, such as Lead Engineer, Chapter Lead or Teamlead, and you can show how to develop people and structures successfully. With modern data-engineering stacks like Databricks, Spark or BigQuery as well as cloud environments like GCP, you'll be safe. Software engineering practices like Clean Code, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code are familiar to you and you transfer them to the data context. You combine technical excellence with pragmatic solution orientation and always keep the business value in mind. You communicate safely and accurately in German – both in writing and oral – and you also move professionally and sovereignly in English.
