Our client is an established, owner-managed group of the metalworking industry. At the site, the group operates a modern plant for the processing of flat steel. The technical equipment is supplemented by a powerful location logistics that covers the entire material flow from the goods receipt to the dispatch. The range so far primarily supplies its own further processing within the group. In addition, there are significant free capacities to be used in the future for external customers in the wage and trade business. This is where the new position begins:

Therefore, neither a purely sales manager nor a classic production manager is sought, but an experienced industry expert with entrepreneurial thinking. Someone who knows the market, acquires steel at good conditions, gains customers and at the same time can estimate what is technically and economically sensible on the plant.

Together with the management, the area is to be expanded into an independent, profitable unit. The position is located at the head of the area and is associated with far-reaching responsibility as well as large decision-making and design possibilities.

Result Responsibility for the Steel Processing Division including control of key figures and structure and team Purchasing of steel at works and rolling mills, negotiation of prices, quantities and conditions Construction of external customer business through active market processing and new customer acquisition Costing, work preparation, material optimization and production planning as well as technical clarification of customer-specific requirements Strategic development of the business unit in close coordination with the management

Multiannual professional and leadership experience in flat-steel processing, steel trading, cold rolling or steel processing Know-how in the longitudinal parts as well as steel grades, material grades, tolerances and surfaces Experience in steel purchase, good sense of price and quantity developments and pronounced negotiating strength Sales strength and enjoyment of new customers, a network in the steel industry is advantageous Embossed commercial understanding of costing, margin, stocks and results Entrepreneurial, pragmatic working with a keen decision and initiative German and good knowledge of English
