Do you thrive at the intersection of AI, biology, and clinical translation? We are looking for a Senior Scientist (m/f/d), Computational Pathology Biomarker Lead (BioPharmaceuticals) to drive the development of AI-enabled computational pathology and multimodal biomarkers that directly impact patient selection and drug development across our BioPharma portfolio. This role is based at our Munich, Germany office. In this role, you will cooperate with cross-functional teams to generate data-driven insights that inform clinical decisions about therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular, renal, metabolic, and respiratory diseases. You will contribute to innovative programs spanning small molecules and biologics, from early discovery through to late-stage development and lifecycle management. Key Responsibilities Drive the development and application of AI-enabled computational pathology and multimodal biomarkers to support patient selection and decision-making across BioPharmaceuticals. Work at the interface of biology, data science, and AI to generate actionable insights throughout drug development - from target validation to clinical implementation. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop AI-driven biomarker signatures for target engagement, patient stratification, and early biological activity Design and apply computational pathology and AI approaches across various tissue types, disease areas and clinical endpoints Analyze complex, multimodal datasets (e.g. whole-slide imaging, multiplex assays, imaging and blood biomarkers) to generate meaningful insights Develop novel quantitative metrics and composite scores to characterize disease biology (e.g. fibrosis, inflammation, tissue damage) Drive innovation in AI-powered biomarker development, identifying and applying emerging technologies to BioPharma challenges Partner with experimental scientists to data shape generation strategies and ensure high-quality, AI-ready data Contribute to project teams and decision-making, providing expertise for patient selection and go/no-go decisions Communicate findings through presentations, reports, publications, and regulatory documentation Support analytical and clinical validation to enable biomarker implementation in clinical studies Ensure compliance with GLP, data integrity, and regulatory standards

Experience & Qualifications Essential PhD in Cellular/Molecular Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or related field, with experience working at the interface of biology, data science, and AI/computational sciences Proven expertise in computational pathology, image analysis, and AI-driven computational approaches Strong experience complex, high-dimensional and multi-modal datasets, ideally in collaboration with AI/computational biology teams Deep understanding of tissue biology, histopathology, and disease mechanisms relevant to BioPharmaceuticals Hands-on experience with advanced tissue imaging techniques (e.g. multiplex IHC, immunofluorescence) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to develop AI-driven solutions linking biological insight and computational methods Excellent communication skills, with ability to acquire complex technical concepts to diverse audiences Proven track record of translating data-driven insights into actionable outcomes for drug development Desirable Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, ideally in translational medicine or biomarker development Hands-on experience applying machine learning/AI to image analysis and biomarker discovery Understanding of clinical trial design, biomarker validation, and regulatory requirements for AI-enabled biomarkers Publication track record in computational pathology, AI, or related fields Formal training in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or machine learning Understanding of multimodal biomarker integration approaches
