Research Assistant - PostDoc (m/f/d)

As one of the four design chairs of the Faculty of Architecture, we devote ourselves to the conceptual design. In accordance with our special profile, various focal points from the environment of the real planning process are also observed and integrated into the design process. In research, we investigate, among other things, the influences of the constructions of prefabricated design and construction, structural cultural considerations in the Euregio Rhein-Maas, structural economic developments, and we also investigate digital methods of sustainability assessment and are essential measurable aspects of sustainability to integrate into the design process. The RWTH is certified as a family-friendly university. RWTH offers a variety of health, counselling and prevention services (e.g. university sports) as part of a university health management. There is a wide range of training and the possibility of obtaining a job ticket for employees and civil servants.

Research The focus is on the integration of digital methods for sustainability assessment and optimization in all phases of the construction process and the building life cycle – from early planning, execution and operation to rebuilding and reuse. Digital tools such as BIM, digital twins and parametric models serve as the basis for combining process data with key sustainability indicators – from eco balance (LCA) and life cycle cost accounting (LCC) to resource and energy efficiency to social aspects. The aim is to develop digital planning and execution models in such a way that You serve as a resilient basis for sustainable design, material and process alternatives. The research field offers high potential for interdisciplinary cooperation and third-party funding projects. Teaching The place includes a course of 4 SWS. These include the independent planning and implementation of courses – in particular exercises and seminars – in the construction process and systemic sustainability modeling and optimization based on digital models and data-based planning processes. In addition, the teaching activities include the support of students in exams, graduates and study advice as well as the continuous further development of teaching concepts and materials. Administration An active commitment in the self-government of the teaching area and in the bodies of the faculty is expected.

We are looking for a PhD/n engineer. In addition, knowledge about the application of software packages BIM and iTwo (or comparable) and knowledge about digital methods of sustainability assessment are also desirable. You are also ready to participate in the offer “Lehren an der RWTH” by Excellent Academic Teaching at the Center for Teaching and Learning Services (CLS).

The employment is in the employment relationship. The place shall be occupied at the next possible time and shall be permanent. It is a part-time job with half the regular weekly working time. The grouping depends on the TV-L. The place is rated with EG 13 TV-L. The job description is aimed at all sexes.
