Deputy Head of Archives (m/w/d) – City Archives

The large district town of Schwäbisch Hall (approx. 43,000 inhabitants) is characterized by a high quality of living and living, as well as regionally radiating cultural and educational institutions and a diverse range of leisure activities. The City and Hospital Archives of Schwäbisch Hall functions as a memory of the city and is the central institution for researching the history of the city with around 6,000 shelves of archives, books and collections. In addition to the core of documents, files and official books of the Reichsstadtzeit, it also includes the archive of the Hospital to the Holy Spirit (cf. 1228). The archive houses not only about 5,000 documents, but also the historical council library with nearly 3,500 books from the time between the late 15th and 18th century, which is a special rarity. Recent files contain, inter alia, urban documents of 19 and 20. century as well as archives of the common places. In addition, the archive has extensive collections. Far-reaching holdings of the Evangelical and Catholic Church, including church books, are kept as loan gifts. A total of seven employees work in the archive: five employees (including the registered office) and two trainees.

Conceptual planning and further development of the areas of transfer formation, development, use and conservation in cooperation with the archive management Supporting users in the reading room and answering city-historical requests Supporting the trainees and carrying out the training “Fachanarbeiterer für Medien und Informationsdienst (m/w/d)” Participation in the evaluation, acquisition and archive-related development of documents from the current administration and non-official documents Working together to build and maintain a digital long-term archive (DIMAG) In cooperation with the archive management: Advising the urban services on analogue, hybrid and digital document management, as well as designing and creating information materials In cooperation with the archive management: Implementation of book projects Working with (web) offers and exhibitions on the history of the city and its surroundings as well as on archival topics in cooperation with other educational institutions Cooperation and further development of archival educational concepts, including participation in school projects and the development of innovative mediation formats such as e.g. B. an Escape-Room Cooperation in the planning and implementation of guided tours (cellar guides, guided tours in the archive and council library) and scientific lectures on archive and city history

(m/w/d) or Bachelor of Arts Archives or Master Archives Studies of history (Bachelor of Arts or Master of Arts) or related disciplines are desirable Professional experience in a local or regional archive, knowledge of national and regional history and knowledge in the field of long-term electronic archiving and file management are desirable strong social skills and communication skills Team skills Individual initiative, self-organisation and conceptual skills Flexibility, loadability and readiness to use
