W2 Professorship ''Agricultural Engineering''

At the University of Applied Sciences, Neubrandenburg – University of Applied Sciences - is in the field of agriculture and food science W2-Professorship “Landtechnik” (all genders welcome) Reference number: 131007/2026 on 1 September 2026.

The Professorship of Agricultural Engineering is one of the twelve professorships which represent the teaching in the various courses of study of the “Agricultural Economy” and the joint master's degree program “FoodChain Environment” of the Department of Agriculture and Food Sciences. Agricultural engineering is an integral part of classical academic, agricultural and agricultural teaching and research. Without a well-founded knowledge of agricultural engineering and process engineering, sustainable, sustainable production of food and raw materials of plant and animal origin is not conceivable. In view of the high importance of agricultural technology for the interplay of plant and animal processes in the agricultural cycle “Animal – Land – Plant – Man” and thus for the sustainability of the overall system, the professorship is indispensable for ensuring the qualification profile expected by graduates of the Bachelor and Master's degree programmes of agriculture. In the field of research, the Chair of Agricultural Engineering has large joint quantities of cuts with the scientific work on all areas of work in the field. Sustainable production systems take into account climate and soil protection, adaptation to climate change and the promotion of biodiversity. It also takes into account animal welfare, productivity and economic sustainability. To this end, the professorship takes up state-of-the-art technologies, such as sensor techniques or robotics, in teaching and research.

We are looking forward to above-averagely qualified personalities who are interdisciplinary with us in teaching and research. The technical qualification is demonstrated by course of studies and doctoral studies in the field of agricultural sciences, engineering sciences or related studies. Relevant professional experience in agriculture and the agricultural value chain are required. Experiences in higher education or other forms of knowledge transfer are also desirable. Applicants will be able to fully represent the field of agricultural technology in research and teaching on the basis of relevant experience. Teaching services are in agricultural foundations, internal and external industries, planning of plants, as well as computer or to provide GPS-based agricultural applications. Experience in the field of renewable energies would be beneficial. The professorship is assigned courses at both Bachelor and Master levels; Updating, updating and the development of new events/modules are expected. A readiness for close coordination with affine fields, in particular from animal and plant production, is strongly desired. In addition, if necessary, courses must be provided in cooperation with disciplines across the entire food value chain.

The general conditions for recruitment are laid down in § 58 Landeshochschulgesetz Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (LHGM-V), whereby according to § 58 (1) No. 4c) LHG M-V special benefits in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must be presented in a professional practice of at least five years from which at least three years have been carried out outside the higher education sector. The recruitment requirement for professors is according to § 58 para. 1 No 3 in addition to the general service requirements, the special ability to scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate. The professor*in shall be appointed, as long as it is appointed to the civil service, for a period of time or for a lifetime in accordance with the law of the State Staff Act (§ 61 para. 1 LHG M-V). A sample period of two years is provided to determine the pedagogical suitability.
