Research Assistant at the Faculty of Aerospace and the Institute of Applied Physics and Metrology (m/f/d)

Branch: Humanities Branch: Humanities

Research assistant Senior Consultant (m/w/d) at the Faculty of Air and the Institute of Applied Physics and Measurement Technology in the field “First place-resolved positrons lifetime measurements on inhomogeneous samples for material testing’ (Deferred to the 13 TVöD Group) at the next possible time, fixed by 31.12.2028 in full or part-time search. The Institute of Applied Physics and Measurement Technology (LRT 2) of the Faculty of Aerospace Technology at the University of the German Federal Armed Force Munich is working on interdisciplinary research projects in the fields of accelerator physics, material science and measurement technology. The scientific work is based on innovative technological developments and is carried out in close cooperation with national and internal research institutions and industrial partners. Pulsed positron beam systems represent a unique analysis tool in material research. Two self-developed pulsed positron beam systems are operated at the positron source NEPOMUC at FRM II. One of them is the Scanning Positron Microscope (SPM). At the SPM, the positron beam is prepared by a complex pulsation and focusing for the measurements. The SPM seeks a beam diameter below a micrometer and a pulse length of less than 150 ps. The instrument has been successfully built and is now ready for the transition to the operating phase. In order to achieve the desired beam parameters, it is necessary for the corresponding operating parameters to be determined and optimized. After completion of the optimization, the first physical measurements on modern quantum materials and materials for energy and environmental research are planned. .
