You synthesize various Fe(III) precursors from Fe(II) derivatives and develop different oxidation methods. You develop separate purification methods and treat the products as a pyrotechnic component in terms of crystal structure, purity, special surface area and suitability. You characterize your products with different analytical methods and derive properties from the results obtained. Finally, the Fe precursors are converted to the target compound in a reduction plant on site at the DEP and the pyrotechnic set is produced. In addition, you accompany the compressibility of the powders produced and evaluate their suitability with regard to calorimetry and burn-off speed, as well as ESD, friction and impact sensitivity. Finally, you document the results in detail and expand the basic position for future development projects.

You study chemistry in the Bachelor (at least 5 semesters) or Master or a comparable subject and have experience with wet chemical laboratory work. You have know-how for the planning of syntheses and can consult them professionally and targetedly. You are able to quickly and analytically solve complex characteristics. You already have knowledge of various oxidation methods and develop them yourself. You will have first experience in recrystallization and scaling of reaction mixtures.
