Junior Purchasing (m/f/d)

As a junior buyer in the Technical Operations River (TOR), you support the maintenance and repair work for the Viking fleet, which consists of over 80 river ships. You report to the superior buyers and work with the management of the technical department, logistics teams, suppliers and important actors to ensure the timely availability of spare parts and technical materials, compliance with quality standards and compliance with negotiated contracts and financial targets. The location of this position is Cologne, occasional business trips to suppliers and operational centers in Europe are part of the activity.

MATERIALS Support in the procurement of technical spare parts and consumables needed for the maintenance and repair of ships Support for supplier selection and contract preparation according to changing requirements Monitoring of ship orders and stocks, timely notification of deviations Building and maintaining close relationships with suppliers and stakeholders Coordination with logistics and technology teams to ensure a smooth end-to-end supply chain Implementation of ad hoc purchasing analyses to support decision-making and cost control Participation in the development of the purchasing strategy care and update of Viking's purchasing system (ERP) with accurate product, price and logistics data; Ensuring the data integrity for auditing.

Training and professional experience

Completion in business, engineering or equivalent experience First professional experience through internships or student activities Strong interest in a career in supply chain management Basic understanding of technical spare parts and components used in ship operations Knowledge of customs clearance and dangerous goods documentation (of advantage) Embossed communication skills in English and German Experience with data analysis tools or AI-based shopping solutions (of advantage)

Social and other skills Customer-oriented, proactive, enthusiastic and flexible with good interpersonal skills Private initiative with a positive attitude and openness Analytical skills, safe in handling a dynamic environment Ability to effectively challenge decision-makers and tactically influence Liquid English and German are essential.
