In the research group “Cybersecurity” at the Institute of Computer Science at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, a position as Projektmanager (m/w/d) Building the ADISEC Research Infrastructure for Experimental Internet Security Research (E 13 TV-G-U) for the ATHENE Mission Project Advancing Internet Security – ADISEC. The place is fixed for two years. The grouping is based on the characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to the Goethe University (TV-G-U). The environment The team of the research group “Cybersecurity-, led by Prof. Dr. Haya Schulmann, deals with the current challenges of Internet security. Our research area includes routing and system security, critical infrastructures and Internet applications. In an interdisciplinary team, we work together with international partners from research, industry and politics on demanding experiments that require robust and flexible IT infrastructure. We explore attack scenarios, carry out measurements and studies and develop solutions to innovatively convey our research content to outsiders. The group works very closely with the National Research Centre for Applied Cybersecurity ATHENE and the Fraunhofer Institute for Safe Information Technology SIT in Darmstadt. We are looking for technically experienced applicants with fun not only to manage standard IT, but to actively participate in the design of our research environment and to implement innovative research concepts for the ATHENE mission project Advancing Internet Security – ADISEC.

Planning and development of system and network technology to support the ADISEC research project in pioneering work based on the latest research knowledge of the professorship Creating a Configurable Cybersecurity and Experimental Platform for ADISEC to Conduct Experimental Research on Internet Security Analysis of existing network structures for the integration of ADISEC in developing and optimizing existing network infrastructures for carrying out experimental research tasks in the field of routing and DNS security Conception, development and implementation of innovative security concepts for ADISEC in the areas of network segmentation, DMZ, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, routing and network security Construction and operation of isolated test environments for cybersecurity experiments Implementation and operation of BGP/routing infrastructures for experimental research purposes Installation and configuration of Linux servers, VPN, DNS and virtualization environments (including Proxmox, Docker) Automation of administration and monitoring tasks within the framework of the research infrastructure Technical support for scientific experiments, in particular attack simulations, routing and DNS security measurements

Education: a completed university degree in computer science or a related science with many years of practical experience in IT Network knowledge: sound knowledge of network protocols and routing (TCP/IP, VLAN, OSPF/BGP, firewalls, VPN). System knowledge: very good knowledge in the administration of Linux servers (e.g. Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL). Working methods: an independent, structured and solution-oriented approach and the willingness to work into new hardware setups for research purposes.
