Calculation Engineer for Repository Container Development (m/f/d)

You contribute to the development, evaluation and optimization of end storage container concepts for the final storage of highly radioactive waste. You carry out independent numerical structural mechanical and thermodynamic calculations on containers, including the derivation and analysis of possible effects and the development and modification of simulation models. In addition, you will be involved in the preparation and formal and professional examination of reports on end storage container development. Another part of your activity is the participation in the initiation and monitoring of research projects. In addition, you take over the external communication of research and development booths at national and international specialist conferences as well as to the public.

You have a completed university degree (Master, Diploma) in the field of mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, vehicle engineering or in a comparable field of expertise. A doctorate or research experience is desirable. You have well-founded knowledge of continuum mechanics, material mechanics, fracture mechanics and construction methods. You have experience with linear and nonlinear analyses, preferably in the fields of structural mechanics, thermodynamics and material aging. You have experience in creating reports and scientific publications. Experiences with experimental testing and the comparison between simulation and experiment are desirable. You are convinced with a pronounced ability to present complex facts in a comprehensible and precise manner in word and writing. with a very high understanding and willingness to work quickly on new topics. with the ability to act independently, independently responsible, cooperative and targeted. with reliable knowledge of German (comparable to C1 level) as well as very good knowledge of English.
