We create the infrastructure for the energy transition by maintaining, optimizing and expanding the high-voltage network according to needs. With our network, we not only make the country an innovative power turntable in the heart of Europe, but also make the energy system of the future significant. The system operation area is responsible 24/7 for the safe, environmentally friendly and efficient operation of the transmission network and the control zone of TransnetBW. In addition to the control of the 380- and 220-kilovolt transport network, this includes the provision of efficient IT and infrastructure systems, the trade in energy and balancing markets, HSE tasks and the development of future-oriented platform solutions for controlling the power grid. You are actively involved in the construction, development and operation of an on‐prem, self-hosted, air gapped cloud native platform that is run across multiple data centers. The special focus is on providing specialist applications that collect, process and make available data from our OT systems reliably, securely and in real time. You use GitOps, Policy-as-Code (PaC) and Diagram-as-Code to specify and automate the desired state of the platform. We are currently under construction and evaluate tools such as ArgoCD, Flux (GitOps), OPA Gatekeeper, Kyverno (PaC), C4 modelling and Structurizr (Diagram-as-Code). You develop and operate data-ingestion pipelines and event streaming infrastructures based on modern open source technologies, for example from the Kafka ecosystem (Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streams / KSQL). This ensures that OT data from critical infrastructure systems are available in real-time, version-proof, auditable and highly available for specialist applications. You use modern technologies to re-create clusters instead of updating, allowing seamless implementation of Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Management (BCM). As a possible toolchain, we are currently evaluating Talos, kubeadm, Metal3 and Rancher for Cluster Lifecycle Management. You work closely with developers, Citizen developers and external partners to enable secure, robust and distributed services, specialist applications and algorithms.
You have studied computer science or a comparable degree or have a professional training in the software development environment as well as several years of professional experience.
