As part of the Hamburg metropolitan region, the district of Segeberg is conveniently located in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein between the North and the Baltic Sea and is a reliable employer for around 1,100 employees. The area of food monitoring and meat hygiene currently consists of 12 employees. The team of the department is responsible for ensuring official monitoring of food, supplies, cosmetics and tobacco products, as well as for official slaughter and meat inspection in the Segeberg district. The aim is to protect consumers from health risks and from misleading and deception, but also the animals during slaughter.

Your tasks:

Inspection of slaughtering and meat in EU-approved slaughterhouses (red meat) and slaughter poultry live inspections in the stock of origin and slaughter animal inspections at the farm Implementation of operational controls, animal welfare controls, sampling, hygiene monitoring and controls on in-house documentation in slaughter and meat establishments Control of milk levels and milk chambers of milk producers Exhibition of TRACES health certificates for horse transport and export certificates Documentation of investigations and surveillance and the initiation of any administrative, regulatory or criminal proceedings

Your profile:

completed studies of veterinary medicine and an approbation as a veterinarian or Veterinary health suitability for carrying out the special external service loads associated with the advertised activities (e.g. stay in cooling and freezing rooms, inhalative and acoustic loads, animal contact and walking, standing and knees on slippery floors) knowledge of German in word and writing (competence level at least C1 according to the common European reference framework for languages) readiness to service outside regular hours and weekends the driving licence of class B or 3 and willingness to use your own car for cost refund

and beyond ideal the motivation to make animals strong Knowledge of food and meat hygiene law and animal welfare law IT knowledge in the MS Office package Readiness for responsibility and decision-making a high level of team capacity, planning and organisational ability and conflictability
