Senior Legal Counsel Banking Law

In this key role, you are part of our Banking Law & Litigation team and act as a strategic partner for management and the Executive Board. Your focus is on legal architecture and securing groundbreaking financial products. You shape the future of digital banking by translating complex regulatory requirements into legally secure concepts – from scaling our banking, trading and crypto offerings to developing new European markets. In doing so, you balance agility with highest compliance and make sure that our product visions are always in line with the supervisory law. You will work within the N26 Legal Department at our Banking Law & Litigation Team and participate in the introduction and scaling of forward-looking bank and financial products (e.g. Trading & Crypto). You fully advise the management and the board on all legal issues related to existing and new banking, trading and financial products. You evaluate complex regulatory requirements and develop legally secure concepts for new products in a dynamic environment. You work closely with the Product and the Compliance Team and ensure that innovation and regulatory compliance are handled. You act as a contact person for regulatory audits and you are able to control communication with supervisory authorities. You independently coordinate cooperation with external legal advisers and ensure first-class consulting quality. You conduct court and dispute settlement procedures on your own and are responsible for the management of important procedures across all instances.

What you need to be successful Background: You are a German full lawyer and have completed the first and second legal state exams with above-average results. You can present at least 4 years of professional experience and a substantial part of it in banking and financial law in a prestigious firm or in an international company (even Fintech). Comprehensive knowledge in banking and financial law and in adjacent jurisdictions are required. Experience in other jurisdictions is welcome. Ideally, you have already successfully completed a specialist course in banking and capital market law or have already completed the corresponding specialist title. German and English fluent in word and writing, any other language (especially French, Spanish or Italian) is a plus. abilities: You have a strong interest in technical and business relationships as well as digital business models. You work independently, meet decisions and are ready to represent them internally and externally. You are willing to explore new topics and legal areas pragmatically and closely accompany dynamic regulatory developments. You have a high level of integrity, willingness to use and self-initiative and do not shy away from personal responsibility.
