Head*in Local Statistics Office for Urban Development Start: 01.01.2027 | unlimited | Full or part-time (Tandem) | Payment: until E14 TVöD/A14 LBesOBW Create the data-based future of Karlsruhe and, together with your interdisciplinary team, create the basis for sound political and strategic decisions from eight employees. You will find a responsible leadership position with a wide range of design possibilities in which you actively combine modern statistics, digitalization and urban development. The municipal statistic office in the Office for Urban Development collects and analyses statistical data, prepares them in an address-oriented manner and provides them to the administration, politics and the public. With sound analyses and reliable key figures, the municipal statistic agency provides the basis for decisions and supports a future-oriented planning and development of the city. In addition to the core tasks of a statistic center, the department also organizes the correspondence listing of the Election Office and the upcoming Zensus 2031 in Karlsruhe. The interviews are expected to be held in the period from 16 to 22. September 2026.

Technical, organizational and personnel management of the department: Together with your team, you will design the future orientation of the department, optimize processes and develop the local statistical office as a modern, service-oriented information service provider. Local data management and reporting: You control and develop the production and publication of official and municipal statistics, small-scale urban observation and digital analysis and reporting instruments. Statistical surveys: Your area of responsibility includes the planning, implementation and evaluation of municipal surveys, in particular as part of the preparation of the qualified rental level for Karlsruhe and the Zensus. Advice: You support other departments and the management in data-based issues, as well as in the development of needs-based analysis and reporting concepts. Networking: As part of your activity, you represent the city in specialised bodies and work with statistical authorities, local leaders and scientific institutions.

Qualifications: You have a completed academic degree in the field of geography, statistics, data science, social sciences, the economy or a comparable subject. Ideally, you could already gain first leadership experience. Expertise: You have practical experience in data processing, transformation and analysis, preferably in the programming languages R, SQL or SPSS. In addition, you have a strong understanding of socio-demographic processes and have profound knowledge of statistics and methods. Competences: Analyze and evaluate complex relationships safely and prepare results for addressing. With a value-assurance and trusting leadership style, you can promote the collaboration and further development of your team.
