The SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. is a renowned aid organisation and a free, non-profit institution of child and youth assistance with 38 facilities throughout the federal territory and around 5,200 employees.

The SOS Children's Village Niederrhein is active in child and youth assistance, vocational education and counselling. We take care of children, young people, adults and families in special situations of life. Our facility is represented at the Niederrhein in Kleve, Kevelaer, Emmerich am Rhein, Geldern and Duisburg with more than ten locations. Around 300 employees help, support and accompany 2,500 people, participants and visitors.

The family café is the heart of our family forum. It is a lively meeting place for families, children, volunteers, visitors and prey. In addition to the gastronomic offer, there are a variety of activities – from open meetings and groups of games to self-help groups to language and after-help courses. The focus is on the common experience and coexistence. With your experience, creativity and your sense of human beings, you will create this special place.

As the main responsibility for the kitchen in the family café, you take on a diverse and important task: independent guide of the kitchen in the family café including food planning and preparation Creating varied, seasonal and sustainable menus that respond to the needs of our guests Preparation of fresh, healthy and intercultural food – from breakfast to lunch table to cake offers in the afternoon Purchasing and storage of food under economic and hygienic aspects Responsibility for the catering of children from the living groups with a warm lunch Guide and accompaniment of domestic workers, intern:internal and volunteer – with respect, patience and appreciation Compliance with all legal requirements in the field of hygiene and food safety (HACCP) active participation and development of our gastronomic offer in the sense of sustainability and participation Responsibility for protection concepts in the field of child protection

completed vocational training as a cook or comparable qualification in the gastronomic field multi-year practical experience, ideally in function as a single cook*in or with management responsibility in a kitchen safe handling of the planning, purchasing and storage of food from economic and hygienic aspects well-founded knowledge of food hygiene and relevant legal regulations (e.g. HACCP, Infection Protection Act) and the ability to reliably implement them Interest in sustainable, regional and intercultural cuisine, with awareness of healthy nutrition and resource conservation Instruction and leadership skills – you are going to be empathically and motivating with people who support you in everyday kitchens (e.g. domestic workers, volunteers, interns) Patience, openness and sensitivity in dealing with people of different social, cultural or biographical backgrounds Organizational design and flexibility – you value structured processes, but also react calmly and solution-oriented to changes professional handling of proximity and distance in contact with supervised persons – you act reflected, sensitive and bordering Identification with the values and social order of our house – you want to make a positive contribution to community and participation with your work
