With an annual programme of around 5,000 events, the volkshochschule stuttgart is the largest in Baden-Württemberg and is one of the largest national universities in Germany. As a public training institution funded by the Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart, it provides a wide range of educational opportunities related to the city and the educational needs of citizens with close links to culture and social affairs. Courses, seminars, courses, individual events and series of events in the programme areas of education and training, cultural education, health education, languages, German and integration, vocational training and further education, as well as basic education and school degrees are visited annually by more than 200,000 people. in parttime (50% / 19.5 hours) The Abendgymnasium Stuttgart is a state-approved replacement school in private sponsorship. For the school year 2024/2025, the Abendgymnasium Stuttgart opened a VABO branch as a morning offer. VABO stands for “Prequalification Year of Work/Occupation with a focus on the acquisition of German skills”. In VABO classes, young people with no or little knowledge of German receive increased language support. The year creates transitions to regular vocational education and is completed with a German exam. BEF Alpha is a project of the Ministry of Culture of Baden-Württemberg, in which since 2016 the “year of education for adult refugees” has been regularly offered up to 35 years with no or little language and writing skills. Thus, the literacy is central in German and the knowledge of the German vocational and training system. In addition, participants receive professional orientation, basic political education and teaching in everyday competence. As a pedagogical employee (m/w/d) for the social education of our VABO and BEF Alpha classes, you are the first contact person for our participants at the vhs-Zentrum Stuttgart-Ost.

Supporting the participants of the VABO and BEF Alpha classes through targeted social pedagogical offers to improve integration into society Strengthening the personal skills of young people as a prerequisite for better integration in the training and labour market and for the orientation of life and social space Consultancy, support and mediation on topics such as learning strategies, time and time management or degradation of fears of examination Work in the class association in the form of group and project work on target group-relevant topics such as conflict training or crisis intervention Consultation, support and mediation of assistance for the aforementioned group of persons in severe personal crisis situations (individual assistance) Targeted contact with labour policy actors in the Stuttgart region, e.g. associations, employers, chambers, employment agencies, job centers etc., is also part of your tasks Planning of career orientation Close cooperation with the teachers of VABO and BEF Alpha classes Cooperation with the School Secretariat; administrative management of courses
