Number: MER0003V3S In the Powertrain Software Development department of Mercedes-Benz, our task is to surpass the highest standards of comfort and dynamics while keeping energy consumption as low as possible. We are looking for a motivatedn and dedicatedn student who wants to play a leading role in developing an innovative AI-based chatbot to improve internal knowledge sharing and optimize workflows within our department. This chatbot, which is in a first prototype phase, uses Large Language Models (LLMs), integrates various internal systems and uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to quickly provide information to our employees. We are looking for an motivatedn and talented*n intern who helps us develop this tool and improve its skills. Your tasks in detail: Working with the User Team to improve the functionality and performance of our AI Chatbot Evaluation of different LLM Agent Frameworks to optimize development and functionality Integration of new internal sources of knowledge and refinement of the RAG pipeline to improve the knowledge base of the chatbot Development and implementation of user feedback mechanisms to continuously improve the performance and user experience of the chatbot Research and implementation of advanced agentic skills Focus on the development of the chatbot for specific internal applications Optimizing the performance of the chatbot, reducing response times and minimizing resource consumption Identification and elimination of limitations of the current system Deployment of the chatbot in an online environment Creation of documentation and training materials to enable employees to effectively use the chatbot Conduct thorough tests and evaluations to ensure that the chatbot meets the needs of users and works reliably Continuous training on the latest advances in LLMs, AI Agents and related technologies Exchange with AI experts within Mercedes-Benz AG

The activity can start from January 2026.

Studies in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or comparable studies

Knowledge of programming in Python Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and related technologies Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Pipelines, Agents and MCP Protocol Knowledge of Docker and Containerization Practices Excellent skills for problem solving and analysis Strong communication and team skills Ability to work independently Fascination for AI and its potential to change business processes Experiences with LLM Agent Frameworks (e.g. LangChain, AutoGen, LangGraph), vector databases, Embedding models, cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and contributions to open source AI projects are desirable.
