As a transmission system operator, we secure the power supply for 11 million people – and ensure that the energy transition succeeds. Around 1,600 employees make our region an innovative power hub in the heart of Europe with a dynamic, intelligent network ready for the future and Baden-Württemberg. The structure of electricity networks is changing. 20 years ago, the power grids were still determined by large conventional power plant blocks. In 2032 we face a system consisting mainly of wind, photovoltaics, gas power plants, storage and flexible loads. These structural changes in the power grid pose great challenges to TransnetBW as a transmission system operator in controlling the power grid. Here comes MSHIP. MSHIP is a platform that will provide our expert teams with the next generation of powerful OT/IT systems and applications by 2032. To this end, we build iteratively and incrementally real-time-capable on-prem, self-hosted, self-run, air gapped Bare-Metal-OT/IT platforms. You are active in building, developing and operating an on-prem, self-hosted, air gapped, cloud-native platform for geographically distributed services and applications. You use GitOps, Policy as Code and Diagram as Code to specify, document and enforce the desired state of the platform, and also ensure that internal and external audits are passed without problems every six months. You use state-of-the-art technologies to continuously rebuild clusters instead of updating, allowing seamless implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity management (BCM). You work closely with external developers and internal “Citizen Developers” to enable secure, robust and distributed services, specialist applications and algorithms. You support the “Pioneers” team to win the following “Settler” and later “Town Planner” and meet future challenges together.

You have a completed computer science study (or related courses) with or a specialist training in the software development environment with a corresponding multi-year professional experience. You bring multi-year experience in the development and operation of on-prem or self-managed cloud-native platforms. You are versed in dealing with GitOps and like to use Policy as Code. You will be able to learn more about K8s-HA scenarios, disaster recovery and business continuity management (BCM). You are enjoying the collaboration with various developer groups and working together to develop innovative and creative solutions for complex tasks. You bring knowledge of German and English and a class B licence.
