The Shared Production Unit (Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH) is the joint production unit of ZEISS. We produce key components for our ZEISS savings and are therefore the proficient and the hand of the pioneer ZEISS. With us creative ideas are implemented reliably.

The technology department of the Shared Production Unit, consisting of eight employees, focuses on the development and optimization of electroplating processes and cleaning processes as well as on processes of microstructure and reproduction technology. As a process engineer (m/w/x) in the area of surface finishing, you take over the technical responsibility for electroplating processes (especially electrolytic and chemical deposition systems) in a highly demanding production environment. Their focus is on the responsibility and optimization of production processes as well as on the sound analysis, further development and sustainable stabilization of complex coating processes along the entire process chain. In short, You are the technical contact person for coating processes – with the claim to really master these physically, chemically and process engineering.

Your role Development, optimization and industrialization of electro-technical coating processes (e.g. current-carrying and current-free deposition) from pre-development to series maturity

Assessment and stabilization of existing processes with particular attention to process and quality properties

technical responsibility for layer quality and functionality (e.g. layer thickness, adhesion, homogeneity, defect freedom, functional properties)

Structured Cause Analysis in Process Deviations including Assessment of Chemical, Physical and Process Engineering Impacts

Planning, implementation and evaluation of experiments (DoE, parameter studies, comparative studies) for targeted process improvement

Support for new approaches, process adaptations and qualifications, including documentation, releases and handover to series production.

close cooperation with production, quality, development and external partners for the sustainable protection of industrial processes

active participation of CVP, digitalization and automation initiatives to increase process flexibility, transparency and cost-effectiveness

a completed study in the field of surface technology, chemistry, material science, process engineering or comparable

comprehensive professional experience in electroplating, preferably in production

pronounced knowledge of process technology in relation to galvanotechnical surface finishing processes

significantly pronounced analytical thinking capacity for orderly investigation of complex processes

Knowledge of the application of structured problem solving methods (e.g. 8D, PDCA, Six Sigma, DoE – Certificates are useful, understanding is crucial)

a high quality awareness, a pronounced initiative and a strong sense of responsibility, complemented by the technical design will

good knowledge of English and very good knowledge of German
