As a core partner in Helmholtz Imaging (HI), DKFZ is committed to advancing imaging science and technology across all scales, modalities, and scientific domains together with the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC, Berlin), the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ, Leipzig), and the German Electron Synchrotron (DESY, Hamburg). Within this context, the newly established Data Curation Unit (DCU) serves as a cross-center support unit dedicated to strengthening the foundations of imaging research by systematizing and improving image data curation practices across the Helmholtz Association.

As part of a distributed cross-center structure, the DKFZ lead will co-develop and implement a unified data curation framework and coordinate local and cross-site activities. The unit's mission is to support researchers and HI support teams by providing structured guidance, tools, and workflows for high-quality, reproducible, and AI-ready imaging datasets.
